About Margaret Morris
Margaret serves as Majority Leader of the Hudson Common Council (2024, 2025) and has chaired the Legal Committee since 2022. She continues to oversee the drafting of local legislation and code revisions in close coordination with the City’s legal counsel. As Chair of the Truck Committee, Morris spearheaded the successful passage of a resolution to remove through-truck traffic from the 9G–Columbia Street corridor, improving safety and quality of life in affected neighborhoods. She and her fellow committee members are now working with HPD on enforcement.
In 2025, Margaret Morris was endorsed by Eleanor’s Legacy.
Founded in 2001 by Judith Hope, the first woman to chair the New York State Democratic Committee, Eleanor’s Legacy is inspired by the dynamic legacy of Eleanor Roosevelt and her dedication to expanding the role of women in government. For over 20 years, Eleanor's Legacy has been supporting pro-choice Democratic women running for state and local office throughout New York State.
Morris serves on the Finance Committee (2024–present), where she works alongside colleagues and the Treasurer to review City revenues and expenditures. She brings deep budget knowledge to the role, having attended all Board of Estimate and Apportionment meetings since 2021.
